Membership Round Up 2009
Welcome back. YbHC is hard and fast working on its plans for the fall 2009 Hunting Season. We are expecting a better than average duck and goose season if the weather-gods will cooperate with a little cold weather this fall/winter.
During the off-season, we completed construction on a large wetlands impoundment near Lissie that was initially undertaken in 2008. We are currently constructing on another project at North Brookshire and have plans for another project at Rock Island during the later part of this summer.
Our lease holdings have been shaken up to delete the non-performing leases and other problem properties spotlighted in the winter drought (worst in memory around Eagle Lake) of 2008-09. We are currently exploring adding one or two select properties to fill a few of those gaps.
Lodging in 2009 appears will be similar to what we had in 2008. One change will be to make the lodge part of every lease package. Your lease payment includes access and use of the lodge.
Looking ahead to the duck season, the abundant rains in the southern portions of the "Prairie Duck Factory" appear to be setting up for a great 2009 duck hatch. It is these southern parts that provide the majority of our ducks here in southeast Texas. For more on the hatch, see the following article:
